Starfing is also pretty insane and there is zero inertia. The most pain will be in an urge to discover story after playing the superion one, because, yeah, I agree: X2 behaves like a crap and after X3 this can be VERY distracting :.

Well I think i need to clarafy some things. X:BTF is where the story begins for the main caractar and it ends at X3:Reunion sort of, don't want to spoil things ;. If you are interested in the story start there, but your computer may or may not run X:BTF, its a very very old game. The thing is the most user frendly X games are X3:TC and the addon X3:AP and that is worth mentioning since no other X games have tutorials or can be played entirely by mouse.

So if you start before X3:TC you are going to have a hard time figuring out command's, you'll porb need to see some guid's, or reed the user manuel a few times like most of us did back then ;. If you want to have a look and fell of the X universe before investing hundereds of houers in older games, try X3:TC since i think is the easyest to get into. You will get some spoilers to the main plot playing at X3:TC first, just so you know.
